What is this opportunities? 

The 7-month program focuses on developing community leaders and advocates. It covers essential topics like development processes, human rights, environmental standards, and corporate accountability. The program also provides practical guidance on engaging with global institutions like the UN and financial institutions, as well as national and regional bodies like human rights commissions.

The curriculum emphasizes using storytelling and legal strategies to address human rights abuses linked to large-scale development projects, such as land rights violations, environmental damage, and social impacts. The program specifically trains participants in advocacy skills, including campaign planning, stakeholder engagement, media outreach, and community mobilization.

Eligibility

- Individual working for an organization associated with EarthRights alumni and community partners

- individuals with proven community work experience in environmental and human rights advocacies

- Community leaders, organizers, trainers, advocates, campaigners, researchers, and junior lawyers with a minimum of 2-3 years of field experience

Individual working with a community affected by harmful development projects or those employed by an organization that collaborates with local communities on human rights and environmental rights issues.

- Commitment to returning to their organization or community or to a similar initiative with the intention of supporting local communities after completing the program.

- Participant’s organization must agree to support their participation

- Able to communicate the fundamentals of human rights and environmental justice in English
