What is this opportunities?

The Indigenous Women’s Program is a year-long fellowship that supports young Indigenous women who are working to advance gender equality, improve community well-being, and protect land and resource rights. Designed and led by Indigenous women, the program empowers Indigenous women and their organizations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas to assert their rights to land, resources, and livelihoods, and to advocate for their communities.

Benefits

- $3,600 USD stipend

- A community-level project Up to $3,000 USD funding

- Individualized mentorship by Indigenous women leaders with significant experience in advancing Indigenous women’s rights.

- Support to develop a community-level project.

- Support in building local-level capacity on the rights of Indigenous women and girls. 

- Support in developing and enhancing local and regional networks.

- Participation in advocacy activities.

- Participation in monthly training on subjects related to Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

Eligibility

  1. Indigenous women over 18 years old.
  2. The applicant should not have been a former Land is Life fellow.

Application

  1. First, design a community project that advances the rights of Indigenous women, which can address a range of key issues, including: capacity building, biodiversity and climate action, participation in decision-making, enhancing livelihoods, governance, and leadership.
