What is this opportunities? 

The program invites two journalists from countries with restricted press freedom to Berlin for a six-month fellowship. The program provides a respite from challenging working conditions, allowing fellows to recover and expand their knowledge and networks. While optional, fellows are encouraged to participate in workshops, networking events, and language classes. They also have the opportunity to interact with international journalists, visit German media organizations, and access psychosocial counseling.

Eligibility

 - Several years of relevant work experience as a professional journalist

- Personal threat profile due to journalistic work or difficult working conditions caused by external risk factors

- Proven knowledge of the English language

- A passport that is valid for at least twelve months at the time of application

- A state of health that permits longer travel and the six-month stay in the host country

- Ability and willingness to return to the country of origin after the fellowship period.
