PhD position on Human-Centered AI and Law

What is this opportunities? 

The PhD position in the RegTech4AI project aims to address the human impact of AI laws, particularly the EU AI Act. The research will focus on protecting individual digital rights and countering deceptive software practices and data privacy violations. The successful candidate will conduct independent research under the supervision of Maastricht Law & Tech Lab professors, collaborate with researchers from various disciplines, and participate in teaching activities. The program offers opportunities for interdisciplinary research, skill development, and participation in academic activities.

Benefits

  • Salary min: €2872,00 - €3670,00

  • 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus

  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon a positive evaluation, an extension of 3 years will follow.

Eligibility

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Design, or Human-Computer Interaction

  • Experience with or willingness to learn qualitative research methods, such as content analysis, interviews and surveys.

  • Experience with or willingness to learn quantitative research methods, particularly statistical data analysis with R or Python.
  • Interest in learning about other disciplines, law in particular.

  • Community-friendly team player.

  • Excellent oral and written English communication.
